Students will use Zenmap to scan a network segment in order to create an updated network map and detail findings on the systems discovered. They will use the material they generated to help them discover if there have been any changes to the network after they compare it to a previously generated network map/scan.

Overview

CybrScore’s Scanning and Mapping Networks Lab is a premium lab built to prepare students in scanning and mapping networks using Zenmap, which is a GUI representation of the well known Nmap. It is intended for intermediate level students.

CybrScore’s Scanning and Mapping Networks Lab teaches students to use Zenmap to perform a scan for new systems on a given network, how to create and save a simple graphical map of current network, how to create and save two documents (.xml and .nmap) detailing the findings concerning each system on the network, and how to compare the new scan data against the provided archival data and look for changes.

Upon successful completion of CybrScore’s Scanning and Mapping Networks Lab , the student should be able to Scan and map any network using Zenmap, be able to compare the current network system baseline to the previously recorded network map and annotate any discrepancies, and create and save two documents (.xml and .nmap) detailing the findings concerning each system on the network. CybrScore’s Scanning and Mapping Networks Lab takes approximately 1 to 2 hours for most students to complete.

In CybrScore’s Scanning and Mapping Networks Lab students will learn how to scan and map networks. This is a key part of the Target Network Analyst work role and builds the ability to map and scan network.

In CybrScore’s Scanning and Mapping Networks Lab students will learn how to compare the current network system baseline to the previously recorded network map and annotate any discrepancies, which is a key part of the Target Network Analyst work role and builds the ability to identify changes in network hosts and devices.

CybrScore’s Scanning and Mapping Networks Lab is presented by Cybrary and was created by CybrScore.
