This guided challenge requires creating and deploying a virtual network using the Azure Portal, creating a virtual network for an application server tier using Azure Cloud Shell and Azure CLI, configuring VNET Peering between the virtual networks for secure bi-directional communication, and verifying that VNET Peering is active for both virtual networks. It is ideal for beginning students who have some familiarity with the command line interface, subnetting, virtual networks, and scripting. This lab has a 45-minute time limit, which should allow you to use the hints or conduct research to complete all the lab tasks. Planning, testing, and implementing virtual networks are important for the Network Operations Specialist and Cyber Defense Infrastructure Support Specialist work roles. Configuring a virtual network is an important component of implementing operational and technical security controls, which is important to the System Administrator work role. Knowing how a virtual network communicates is important for the Cyber Defense Analyst work role. This beginner lab will help students understand how virtual networks are created and configured, and how VNET Peering can be used between virtual networks for secure communication. It will be helpful to most career paths because knowing how secure communication in a virtual network works is a fundamental concept in information technology.
