Overview

Introduction

The Migrating Data Using Oracle Data Pump module will cover upgrading the Oracle software and migrating data from a database.

  • Migrating Data Using Oracle Data Pump

Exercise 1 - Oracle Data Pump

In this exercise, you will learn the following about Migrating Data Using Oracle Data Pump:

  • Create an 11g Database for using to Migrate Data using Oracle Data Pump
  • Create a 12c Database for using to Migrate Data using Oracle Data Pump
  • Create a LISTENER for using to Migrate Data using Oracle Data Pump
  • Create a Local Net Service Name for 11g Database for using to Migrate Data using Oracle Data Pump
  • Create a Local Net Service Name for 12c Database for using to Migrate Data using Oracle Data Pump
  • Perform Migration using Oracle Data Pump

The Oracle Data Pump can be used to transfer tables, schemas or different data objects between databases as discussed in Module 10. The Oracle Data Pump can also be used to copy an entire database, or all users objects can be read from one database and created in another database. Since the objects are represented in Data Pump dump file logically rather than physically. Hence database can be upgraded by import/ export process. The tasks below will show how to migrate data using Oracle Data Pump. There are few things which will be required to show the demonstration of migrating Data using Oracle Data Pump. They are as follows:

  • An 11.2.0.3 database
  • A 12.1.0.2 database
  • A listener
  • Local Name Service for 11.2.0.3 database
  • Local Name Service for 12.1.0.2 database
