What is Network Convergence and what are its advantages??

Dynamic routing protocals allow a router to pick the best route to deliver information. How the best route is selected is based on the routing protocal used. If best (chosen) route should fail then it will select an alternate (backup) route to deliver the information to its destination. The process of failing over from one route to a backup route is called convergence. Main advantage is delivery of information to it’s destination even if there is a problem in the initial delivery route.

dj is on point with his explination

When all the routing tables, match up or have converged, things work better. If anyone came along and deleted them, which is the opposite extreme, that would be very bad, then nothing would really work.

    P.S. Spelled ‘protocol’
