Hey, welcome back to the course. So in the last video, we talked about the difference between bit bite and nibble. So again, keep in mind the difference is there and the actual for bite. Nibble. Remember the actual number of bits that'll come in handy potentially on the actual examination itself.
We also talked about you, e f I and also the U year fi boot faces as well as G, p T and G u i D.
So in this video, we're gonna go over the different boot process is so we're gonna go over Windows Mac and Linux again. We're kind of taking a very, very high level overview of these particular boot processes.
So in Windows, I just want to mention and this is something you'll want to memorize for the CSF eye examination. So just remember that for Windows X P v sta in seven that you can use the traditional bios nbr boot and then four Windows eight and later on select Windows 10 for example, you can use either

or the BIOS nbr, so just keep that in mind that you could use either or for Windows eight and later. Or you can just use the bios nbr for X p v state incentives. So again, that'll be definitely helpful for the examination.
So the windows boot process. So what happens here? So, basically, you know, we come up, we push the power button there, it turns it on on the CPU, then sends a signal to the motherboard and checks for miles firmware that the BIOS actually starts the power on self test. Just check in to say everything's okay on. And then the firmer settings from non volatile memory are gonna be loaded.
Uh, you know, of course, we check and see
at that point. Okay. Well, the other post is successful. That power on self test, it is successful. We're good to go. And then the ad on adapters also perform another test.
The Malibu system is detected. And then the for more scans of boot desk, and then it's gonna load the master boot record for us.
Step number six here. And then again, this is not the all the step by step guide here, but step number six is we have labeled here. The master would record, then triggers to boot manager on that locates the windows loader. And then the colonel is actually loaded at that point.
And then we have ah, couple different files. We have held a dll as well as a system registry high. Those are gonna be loaded into memory and then session manager launches. So that's like when log in the service control manners air and an actual user session is created.
So for the Mac Boo process boot, Rahm is activated. Once we power stuff on here, then it's going to initialize the system hardware. Of course, we get another post test, right? Our power on self testing make sure everything's working, OK, and then the remaining hardware interface is there gonna be initialized? So one thing you want to remember for your exam here the e f eyes for Intel based
and then he opened firm where
it's for the power PC based so again, this is something that you want to kind of memorize for the examination
the operating system is in selected on, then controls past the boot X or the boot dot e f I boot loaders. And then the colonel is gonna be loaded. And then ultimately, the launched D runs a startup items and actually prepares the system for us as a user
under the athletics boot process from in the bio stage. And again, you want to kind of memorize these particular stages of the linens book process. So in the bio stage, the system hardware is gonna be initialized,
and then the BIOS retreats, the information stored in the sea moss again, it performs a post test, and then the bio start searching for the operating system
in the boot order stage. So that's where the Lenox colonel's gonna be loaded. So your brute loaders lilo in grub. So just keep that in mind as well for your exam virtual file systems to keep that in mind on. That's basically named intrude. It's gonna be the initial ram disk. So and then from there
we the actual roof file system that's going to actually prepare for deployment.
There's detection of the device that contains a file system than the Colonel's actually loaded into memory.
And then we move on to the colonel stage. Right? So the VF s executes the limits are C program. The colonel then searches for a new hardware and loads various drivers The roof file system is actually mounted, and then the rest of the system is loaded. And then, you know, we as a user finally logged.
All right, so just one quick post assessment question here. So the virtual fire system RVF s is that in the Mac OS file system? So is that gonna be true or false?
All right, so that's false. And we actually just cover that, right? Remember that. We cover that in the limits of boot process, so we know that is obviously false. They're so again the VF s you're gonna find inside of Lennox.
