Hello, everybody. And welcome to this lecture and this lecture We're gonna be walking through the process of creating your very first s three bucket. In the last lecture, we covered the fundamentals of s three covering the different data tears and some of the cool features you get within Amazon as three along with what it actually is.
And so here we go can actually open up the lab and get started.
If you aren't already logged in, please look into your Amazon accounts that we create. In the beginning of this course, you should be at the Management council.
Let's go ahead and open up the service's menu and under storage, you're going to see as three right here. Let's go ahead and click that. And this here is the S three dashboard. As you can see, we don't have any s three buckets created. This is a new account, so use your screen should look very similar to mine,
and we're gonna do is we're gonna
press create bucket and a pop up will appear to start off. It's gonna ask us for a bucket. Name it. They do say the n s compliant buck A name and the last lecture. If you remember, I referenced that the bucket names are similar to domain names for a website,
and that's they are globally unique. So whatever your bucket name is,
it has to be unique and cannot be copied in another region or another geographic location in the world. It is globally unique. So you're the only one with that exact bucket name. Just like you would be the only one with that exact domain name.
So we're gonna go ahead and enter a bucket. Let's say Cy Berry
and see if that's available. I'm going to stick it in the ah US East Virginia. You do have some other options here, so
I encourage you to play around with it, though for the scope of this course. I think us East Virginia should do just fine,
and they do give you the option to copy setting from an existing bucket. But we don't have one, so we're not gonna do that.
Let's go ahead and press next
So they do give you the option within properties to include version in which I think I had said in the last lecture that you do have to enable version ing in order to have it. And this lecture, it's not necessary. We're not gonna be testing out what version ing is. Just keep in mind that version ing does keep multiple copies of the same file as you modify them.
If you need server access, Logging, they do allow youto have that this is probably beyond the scope of ah certified cloud practitioner exam. But if you do want to learn more, you can click this link.
You can include tanks. You can record the object level longing
and you can also include encryption. But we're not going to use any of these were just gonna go ahead and press next.
One thing that I wanted to note and you probably will be asked this on the exam. It has to do with public access for your buck. It's one thing you want to know is that all access to all public access to your buckets are going to automatically be denied. They block it
when you first build your bucket. But you can't change the settings so you can, you know,
disabled at and then enable which type of access you want.
But for this case, we're going to keep it as the faults and leave it be going to press next. This is going to last step permissions.
All that looks good. So let's go ahead and create our bucket, all right? And just give it a second. It is kind of setting it up right now, but
for the most part, this is our bucket. And remember, I had said that data consistency
is instantaneous with new puts, this should be instantaneous. I am able to access it. And I am able to upload a file if I wanted to,
which you can just drag her, drop the file into this pop up. Or you can add the file using your file manager.
But that's about it. That is, that is
that is how you're going to create an S three bucket and Amazon eight of us. I hope this was helpful. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me. And if not, I will see you in the next lecture.
