welcome to performing a Microsoft Windows 10 insulation.
00:04
We demonstrated that when those 10 insulation tasks in previous episodes and then this episode
00:09
we'll examine a few post insulation tasks. I'll make up the new operating system more usable in secure.
00:17
Now you can refer to the course handout for detailed descriptions of the demonstration that will be performed here.
00:24
Thanks for taking this course
00:27
checklist includes
00:30
making sure that
00:32
Windows reports the correct date and time and time zone.
00:37
I'm gonna check that the Windows update is collecting and applying updates as we want.
00:41
Uh, two.
00:44
We're going to confirm that the Ones defender is doing our antivirus anti malware checks
00:51
and we're gonna add Microsoft account,
00:54
um, to our profile
00:56
and will probably add some other easier accounts as well.
01:00
And lastly, we're going to activate Bit Walker to encrypt
01:04
the disk and protector files.
01:11
First, let's check the time zone and eight time settings. We could do this by right, clicking the clock display
01:18
tray and then selecting a just state and time.
01:23
Now this action's gonna launch settings app. We're gonna be here a lot this application
01:29
and note that the automatic time set it on
01:32
and we're satisfied that our time zones correct.
01:38
Well, look at you with those updates setting Next. See, we're gonna go to sitting zap. I'll search for when those update here this time
01:46
and we'll see that search window will show the settings AP and take us right to that.
01:53
Now we're going to open up the application here.
02:06
Looks like a number of applications or updates have already been installed. Um,
02:10
we can reboot install. Those are,
02:15
but we'll check the act of ours
02:17
and see when these will be automatically applied.
02:21
We basically say that this is our work time, so we don't want updates to be installed this time.
02:27
Also, make sure that ah, automatic updates are being downloaded
02:32
and applied.
02:38
We're gonna check that will stay on this default. Some annual channel, that is feature updates will be
02:44
installed when they're released. Typically in the spring in the fall.
02:53
Look at the Windows 10 security center.
02:55
Um uh, is another apple it inside the setting out,
03:00
and we'll launch this from the action center. We're going to launch the out from the accident senate here
03:06
and go to update and security.
03:10
And then
03:12
we see that same update ballot was all before in the same pending items, but will open Windows security.
03:20
We see we have an option that we need to take action. We need to
03:24
for increased security at a Microsoft account.
03:38
Quick Time will add user account password for Microsoft account.
03:45
This is really good, because these accounts allow us add multi factor authentication. Other features, that kind of thing
03:52
system. Promise me for the password I use for the local count here, and it will configure that.
04:30
Let's see, Once we've refreshed the security center here,
04:33
we'll see that we have no additional alert.
04:40
Well, let's refresh
04:46
Thanks.
04:46
Excellent.
04:51
When those 10 allow multiple users toe have their own profile
04:57
and their own unique experience on the computer.
05:00
And we can add those users here in the settings after as well.
05:05
All we need to do is buy the phone number of password for the user
05:12
email address, I should say, or phone number for the user
05:15
and when those 10 will then care for creating that user code.
05:19
If the user doesn't have a Microsoft account, you could simply go to sign up dot live dot com
05:27
and create one
05:35
logging into the Windows 10 computer with the Microsoft account that I configured earlier.
05:42
Once I'm in, I'm going to turn on bit locker
05:46
and I'm gonna search for the future. You see that? I enter it in the search bar and it displays it in control panel.
05:55
Interestingly, control panel goes back to version one.
05:59
Now you notice as a display comes up, it's already showing me that the features activated and it's
06:04
that CeBIT locker encrypting is a value that I'm looking at.
06:10
And I will launch Power Shell as administrator,
06:15
respond to the USC prom,
06:17
and I'll start the command show.
06:20
Listen, I want to note that it's very important to use the user account control feature in Windows. This feature will give an indication when anything tries to run in privilege, mood and any time that happens. And you didn't expect that, um, you want to evaluate the software that does that
06:40
we're going to shoot, come in managed Ashby T dash status to get information on the progress of encrypting,
06:49
um, this files and you see that I'm at 11.4% now.
06:59
Close this
07:01
and I'm about to just update this to get status But, you know, let's go back and repeat the command using power shell.
07:12
The power shell is here.
07:16
We're just going to issue the command just by hitting up Barrow on my keyboard
07:21
to display the last command in the buffer
07:25
and you'll see again
07:27
that I'm gone from 11.4
07:30
36.4. So good progress and encrypting that C drive.
07:35
Also, you'll notice there's a tray icon that I could launch to display a graphical depiction
07:45
of bit locker and what's happening here.
07:47
Let me note for you the bit locker and disc encryption is very, very important. In the old days, if you wanted to get data off a computer, you just pull the disc or get some disc ah, peeing software, copy the contents mounted on another computer and use it while bit locker defeats that without the encryption key
08:07
that's built in, there's no way to unlock the disk and review that content.
08:16
We're making good progress on encryption, and now it's
08:20
The encryption is completed, and we can see that we can actually manage from this window. Bit lockers turned on. We're in very good status.
08:33
Let's go and connect our cloud storage
08:35
noticed the cloud icon. We're going to right click and select the settings because I want to activate a feature called Auto Save. I want my
08:46
Windows profile, my desktop, my pictures, my documents all be copied to the clown automatically. This isn't a backup,
08:56
but it's very good method that keep files available. And now, once it's activated, then I can access my finals over the Web. I can keep contents available. I could easily share on take advantage of those other features
09:11
through you the features that we presented in this episode
09:15
Remember that after the installation upgrades completed, it's important to activate a handful of key features.
09:22
Certain features like when those update and Windows Defender are activated by default
09:26
features like when those hello bit longer using a Microsoft Account organization account law again need to be activated.
09:37
Thanks for completing this episode.
09:39
The next episode is our final episode will summarize Oliver Learning
