Floppy Drives & Tape Drives Earlier in our discussion we talked about floppy drives and how its cable connection works. This lesson examines the Floppy Drive itself as well as Tape Drives in terms of how they work and how much information they hold. There are a number of floppy drive types DSDD, DSHD, & DSED, they are defined by how the disk was created in order to store information, AND their storage capacity. We'll show you each floppy drive type and demonstrate how it works, how to determine if it's connected to the motherboard correctly, and how it can be configured for a read-write vs. read-only state, and how to safely handle them. With tape drives, they hold varying amounts of information and write their data in one direction. Tape drives store data both compressed and uncompressed, so you'll learn the compression rate and the storage capacity of both. Today tape drives are mostly used in large volume backup scenarios at the server level. They include the following types such as DDS, VXA, and LTO Ultrum 5th edition.
