Hey, everyone, welcome back to the course in this video. We're just gonna take a brief introduction to Cloud Environments will specifically talk about what the cloud is that just a very, very high level. And we'll talk about some different types of cloud environments as well.
So what is the cloud? Well, the easiest definition is you're putting your data on someone else's systems. Um, that's when we're talking about things like the public cloud, a swell as a private cloud.
So essentially the cloud is just servers that you're accessing via the Internet. So we talk about a ws Cloud or azure, which is Microsoft's cloud Google Cloud. We're just using servers by those providers to put our data on. And that way we as an organization don't have to
own our own software and databases and servers and have a very expensive time of scaling up or down. Right? So the cloud provides us with a lot of scalability. So let's say that our company gets a major contract with the U. S. Government and we have to build all the software so traditionally we would have to get a bunch of different servers, hire new staff
do all these things right?
But with a cloud, we don't worry about that. We just scale up in the cloud. And then when it's time for that contract to be done and we don't need all these servers anymore, we simply scale back down again. And we continue on with our current plan
because we can do that. We could scale up or down pretty easily. It saves us a lot of money is an organization.
So what are the different types of cloud environments where we have a private cloud, public cloud, hybrid cloud and community cloud? And you want to know these specifically If you're gonna take the CH exam, you just wanna be familiar with what each one is.
So let's talk about the private cloud. This could either be set up by the organization itself or by ah third party provider. So think like a W s, for example,
the key thing to remember here it's a single organization. It allows you a little more control of your data whether you're using a third party or you have an internal cloud, it's a single company, right? So I should not as Company X I should not be able to access company wise information.
It gives some flexibility as well. A scalability as well. Just because it's a cloud.
We've got a public cloud. This is the one that most people are familiar with. So this is where you typically will have some kind of a subscription like paper use, um, type of model across the information. So, um, one example this might be is is Netflix, right? So I pay Netflix X amount of dollars per month, And because of that, I get to use
the cloud environment Netflix has,
which allows me to watch all the movies that I want forever. Right? And they're using multi cloud providers that host their their data, which is, in that example, their movies and television shows in the cloud.
So this is owned and managed by the cloud provider itself. So we're not gonna talk about shared responsibility in this particular course, But just understand that the cloud provider is responsible for the cloud right? Securing the cloud, etcetera, when we talk about shared responsibility and then you
are responsible for the data, right? So your data in the cloud you're responsible. Usually typically speaking,
you're responsible for you securing that data in the cloud. So whatever you're putting in the cloud, you're responsible for that inside type of stuff. So public cloud again only managed by the cloud provider, typically lower cautious because it's open to everybody. No maintenance. Usually that you have to do is an organization or individual,
and it's It's usually pretty reliable
and, of course, scalable. Right and the cross, all the cloud environments we're gonna be talking about everything is scalable
community cloud. This is typically where different organizations or entities will share the same set of data, and resource is so this could be like universities or colleges sharing research information. Generally speaking, there is a common goal, right. There's some kind of common goal in place,
and then we have the hybrid cloud, which is basically using the public and private cloud. So, um, the database servers are in like your private cloud is the organization. But like the Web servers might be hosted in the third party. Cloud environment
offers you a little more control over what data is being shared,
Of course, gives you the flexibility. The cost is cost effective, so you can keep the more sensitive stuff internal. And then put this stuff that you don't necessarily care about too much out there in the public cloud.
Quick quiz question here for you. This type of cloud environment combines on Prem and Public Cloud. Which one is gonna be? That one
is a combined cloud community cloud or hybrid hybrid cloud.
Alright, so we just covered that one, right? That's a hybrid cloud. We're using both the public and private cloud.
So this video, we just talk briefly about what is a cloud again, we can't get a very, very high level. We also talked through some different cloud environments like private clouds as well as community clouds.
