Hi and welcome to Sigh Bury. My name's Anthony and I'm your local subject matter expert for Network Plus entered today We're gonna be talking about the purpose and features of various network appliances. So in this module, we're going to go over a couple of different devices which we can put in our network to provide additional functionality in an additional extensive bility. Now, it's not gonna be a several devices,
00:23
just a few.
00:24
And what we're going to cover is we're gonna cover load balancers, proxy servers, content filters and BP and concentrators. Now, we're gonna take a quick overview of each of these just real quick and then move into each one in depth. Just so you have, ah, sort of, Ah, quick,
00:42
almost stud,
00:43
quick cheat sheet reference to what each of these do it. Maybe if you want to make some flash cards or make a make a chart and then we'll go, we'll dive into each of those in depth to do some learning about them.
00:55
Our first device is going to be our load balancer. And the key words for our load balancer are going to be distributing our workload. Ah, load balancers and we'll talk about load balancing and a little bit essentially takes several devices inside of our network
01:08
and distribute the workload among them. So we don't have one single device, which is handling
01:15
so many requests that it causes that device toe, perform very, very slowly or to go down. But we can distribute the workload across multiple devices so that we still have good access. Good up time.
01:26
Then we have a proxy server, and a proxy server acts as a proxy access and in between between us and the public, Internet or a public source and a proxy server is going to provide us with privacy and cashing on the cashing is gonna give us a little bit of extra speed.
01:44
Then we have content filters. Content filters can be built into our proxy servers. However, we're gonna have them as a separate item,
01:53
and content filters are going to provide us provide us with protection and blocking.
01:59
And then we have our VP and concentrators. Rvp and Concentrator stands for a virtual private network concentrator, and it allows us to connect to our network externally over a tunnel through the public Internet and act as if we're sitting in the office at our desk. So
02:15
again, these are gonna be some network appliances which we can put in our network to provide us with additional functionality.
02:22
And we're gonna take a look at our load balancers, proxy server content filter, and BP and concentrator.
